Portrait of Mark Bailey and Romeo

I was commissioned to do a portrait of champion roper Mark Bailey and his favorite mule Romeo. Yes mule! He ropes from mule back. The picture I was given wasn't very clear as you can see here.

Mark had also lost weight between the time the photo was taken and the time of the portrait. so I was asked if I could slim him down a little. I was also asked to change the background to something more dramatic. In most portraits you want the subject to stand out. so I did a neutral color background and just made it to look like dust around him and Romeo.

I was sad to find out that Romeo passed away shortly before the portrait was completed. Mr. Bailey was very happy with the portrait and said that he would treasure it forever. No higher praise.

Assassin's Creed Portrait

My son, a gamer, loves the Ezio character from Assassin's Creed II video game. I wanted to do something for his birthday and thought doing his portrait in the Ezio costume would be to his liking. Here are the step by step pics of his portrait.

His gamer tag is Etal. He was very happy with it and it's hanging on his wall. The face is his cocky smirk  and all!

The Cows

This painting is an acrylic on canvas and was requested by one of the galleries where I have art. The curator said she had requests for cows but only one artist painted cows. The painting she had was impressionistic and her costumers wanted a more realistic look. The pics below show the step by step process i used in creating the Cows. I took pics about every hour. I was not happy with the grass but it was like the grass in photo I used as a reference. Check these out and let me know what you think. What should i have done differently? How do you think i could improve the painting?

                                                                And the final product.
Well that's the painting and the artist. It is a 30"x 40" leave a comment and tell me what you think. Also do you have any requests?  Have a happy, blessed day!
Ok, so I'm really new to the blogging thing. I thought I would blog to let people know what I'm doing with my art. I started this blog and then got really sick so its been awhile since my last post. Sorry about that.

Today I'm going to post several things. First I did this color/space study of a Dressage horse in pastel on grey color paper. I was happy with the look and space but I felt that the horse's muzzle was too short and that the neck muscle wasn't quite as smooth as it needed to be. So when I started the acrylic painting I corrected these mistakes.
The acrylic painting below is more what I had in mind when I started and I'm happy with the final result.

Well that's it. What do you think? This piece is in Carmen's Art & Antiques in Conway AR. Please leave a comment. Oh and sorry about the pics I have a sorry camera.
